Redaction is a font family that studied the typeface of legal documents, a creation that looks into the history of legal system and social justice. The font was originally created in conjunction with the exhibition called “The Redaction” held in MoMA in 2019. Using legal documents as the source of reference, the designer designed the serif font that incorporates the elements of redaction with ink trap-like feature. Besides that, through research the designer also found out the text in the documents are degraded in different level through reproduction of the document through fax and copy printing. The result is a font with 3 styles (regular, bold and italic) with 7 layers of degradation from readable to unreadable, pixelated design.
Redaction is free to download and be used in personal and commercial projects, as it is licensed under SIL Open Font License.
